Historic Salvador Free Walking Tour
We will meet up at 9:30 am at Plaza Castro Alves Square before beginning our fascinating walking tour through the history of Salvador de Bahia and the Pelourinho neighborhood.
Strolling through Brazil's captivating coastal city of Salvador de Bahia, we will discover the secrets of iconic landmarks as the magnificent Rio Branco Palace and the amazing Lacerda Elevator. Later, we will head into the Pelourinho neighborhood which is filled with 17th and 18th-century mansions that give this area a special charm. You will discover exactly why this area has been designated the status of World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
We make a stop at the Praça da Cruz Caída square where you can enjoy incredible views of the ocean. Then our tour continues at the idyllic Largo do Pelourinho square where you will encounter the beautiful, baroque São Francisco church. You may recognize these enchanting streets from the video for Michael Jackson's hit song 'They don't care about us'.
Finally, we will stop to see the Church of San Francisco, a baroque architectural jewel, and after two and a half hours immersed in the main stories and legends of the old Brazilian capital, we will conclude the tour here, at 12 midday.
