Capoeira is a sport with Afro-Brazilian origins that mixes martial arts with dance and music. It brings with it an immense legend from enslaved African descendants in Brazil. While its origin remains unknown, the practice dates back to the end of the 16th century in Quilombo dos Palmares.

This discipline is characterized by mixing various blows with complex and agile movements, standing apart from other sports thanks to its musicality. In fact, capoeiristas learn to play traditional instruments during their classes, like the berimbau, atabaque, pandeiro, and reco-reco.

All those who refuse the magic of music in capoeira are often considered incomplete fighters and lack sportsmanship. Are you up to the challenge?

What to Expect

We'll meet at Largo do Pelourinho to kick off our exciting and fun capoeira class in Salvador de Bahia. Get ready to experience a different side of Brazilian culture!

Throughout the class, you'll have the opportunity to experience this incredible art form, expressed through movement and music, as you feel the energy, strength, and mental balance that capoeira provides. Together, we'll learn this sport's movements and basic rules alongside students from the school.

Then, after 2 hours of moving our bodies to the rhythm of the music, we'll bring our experience to an end. The only way we know how is by dancing!

Hotel Pickup

During the booking process, you can opt for the activity, including pickup or without pickup from your hotel. If you opt for the activity with pickup, we'll collect you from your hotel 1.5 hours before the beginning of the activity so we can arrive at the capoeira class together.
