Afro-Brazilian Cooking Class
Description
At the scheduled time, we'll collect you from your hotel in Salvador de Bahía to begin this exciting experience. Ready to learn to cook Brazil's most typical dishes? Let's go!
Firstly, we'll make our way to the Fish Market, where we'll buy some of the ingredients we'll need for the class. As we walk around, we'll chat about the traditional recipes in the state of Bahía and we'll be shown which fish is best for each dish, especially the famous moqueca, an Afro-Brazilian speciality that we'll cook.
Afterwards, we'll make our way to the Rio Vermelho Market in search of fresh vegetables to round out our shopping list. In addition, we'll buy fruit to make an authentic caipirinha. Did you know that this drink gets its name from the caipiras, the native people of the rural area of São Paulo?
With all the shopping done, our next stop will be at the house of an Afro-Brazlian family. Once we've been introduced, we'll enter the kitchen and get down to work. After the class, the moment will have arrived: we'll try our own dishes!
In addition to tasting the fish moqueca and the caipirinha, our food will be accompanied by beans, rice, farofa and plantain jam. This is the perfect opportunity to try the different Afro-Brazilian flavours!
Finally, we'll say our goodbyes back at the starting point after 5 hours together.
