Description
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Salta and kick off the start of our exciting day trip to Santa Rosa de Tastil.
Our first destination is Campo Quijano, a charming little town we'll pass on the way to Quebrada del Toro. This small town is colloquially known as the 'door to the Andes,' and you'll understand why as we arrive.
As we go to Quebrada del Toro, we'll traverse a breathtaking mountainous route, offering views of colorful hilltops and towering cacti. We'll enjoy panoramic views at every twist and turn, prompting endless photo opportunities.
We'll continue our journey, passing by the renowned Tren a las Nubes viaduct until we arrive at Quebrada del Toro. Here, we'll pause to enjoy one of the most spectacular vistas of Salta. After fully appreciating the breathtaking scenery, we'll go down to our ultimate destination, the quaint town of Santa Rosa de Tastil, inhabited by a local indigenous community.
Here, in this small town, we'll find one of the most important archeological sites in northwestern Argentina, the Tastil ruins, situated 3,200 meters (10,498 feet) above the heart of the Calchaquíes Valleys. We'll take some time to explore and visit the site, taking advantage to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Did you know this is one of the biggest pre-Colombian cities in all of Argentina?
After leaving you some free time to enjoy lunch at one of the local restaurants, we'll return to Salta, bringing our culturally rich tour to an end.
