Make your way through the most iconic villages in northern Argentina, tucked in between lush green hills and deep valleys, on this day trip to Iruya!

Description

We'll pick you up from your hotel in Salta to kick off our exciting day trip to Iruya, a picturesque village in northern Argentina.

First, we'll visit the town of General Güemes, from where we'll set out on the highway that guides us into the province of Jujuy and the mesmerizing Quebrada de Humahuaca. Interestingly, this route serves as the sole passage to reach the captivating destination of Iruya.

During our journey, we'll pause at several charming towns, with Purmamarca, Tilcara, and Humahuaca among the notable highlights. If you're inclined towards photography, rest assured, as we'll lead you to the finest vantage points for capturing breathtaking images. Maimará and the unique location where the Tropic of Capricorn intersects provide perfect settings for your photographic endeavors.

Next, we'll pass through the village of Iturbe, which has endured even after its renowned railroad station closed down. We'll then embark on a winding road that ascends to the Abra del Condor, the region's highest point, reaching an impressive altitude of 4,000 (13,123 feet) meters above sea level.

Continuing from this point, we'll start the descent of 1,220 meters (4,000 feet), eventually arriving at our ultimate destination, Iruya. As we approach, the town unfolds before us in all its magnificent glory, cradled amidst the mountains. Founded in 1753, the livelihood of its residents has centered around agriculture.

In Iruya, you'll have two hours of free time to savor a meal and explore the town's primary attractions. We suggest paying a visit to the town's church and taking a leisurely walk around the central square. Moreover, don't miss the chance to visit two particularly captivating viewpoints, namely, La Cruz and El Condor.

After 13 hours of adventure, we'll part ways as we bring you back to your hotel in Salta and end the day.
