Day Trip Details
We'll kick off our adventure to the Machín volcano by meeting at the main park of Salento at the scheduled time. Let's get ready to explore!
While on the offroading trip, we'll traverse the National Trail, one of the oldest roads in South America. This journey promises awe-inspiring landscapes and an opportunity to immerse yourself in a place full of historical significance.
Our journey will include a stop at the Nevados viewpoint, where you can savor a delightful Colombian coffee while taking in this location's breathtaking views. such as the Cascada de la Ceja. Following that, we'll enjoy a traditional breakfast next to the magnificent wax palms. Did you know that these palm trees are exclusive to the Colombian Andes and can reach towering heights of up to 70 meters (229 feet)?
Reenergized and ready to explore, we'll continue toward Toche. We'll enjoy a typical lunch while taking in the surroundings of this charming small town. It's known for its picturesque houses nestled amidst one of the most impressive mountain ranges in the world, the Andes. We'll also pass by one of the most unusual cemeteries in Colombia, situated in the forest and along the National Trail. It's an intriguing and unique sight to behold!
With renewed energy, we'll reach the Machín volcano. Here, you'll have approximately three hours of free time to explore the entire area surrounding one of the most awe-inspiring volcanoes in the coffee country. Be sure to bring your camera along, as you won't want to miss capturing the incredible stalagmites that form on the cave floors.
Finally, we'll return to our meeting point in Salento, bringing our tour to a close at 7:30 pm.
