Cerro Morrogacho Reserve Tour
At 6:30 am we'll meet at Carrera 5 in Salento. There we'll get into a 4x4 vehicle to start the excursion to the Cerro Morrogacho Reserve. Ready for an adventure?
Once we arrive in the vicinity of the Cocora Valley, we'll start a four-hour hike to the Cerro Morrogacho Reserve. Along the route on foot, we'll find ourselves surrounded by the typical vegetation of the Colombian Andean forest and various springs, which are very important for the water supply of the region.
In addition, if we're lucky we'll be able to see different specimens of the 31 species of birds that live in this area, many of them in danger of extinction. The guide will tell us about their most important characteristics and we'll learn how to distinguish them.
Once we have climbed to an impressive 3450 metres (11318 feet) above sea level, we'll be able to enjoy the marvellous views of the Cerro Morrogacho Reserve and its spectacular natural environment. We've reached the top! Of course, we'll have time to take some snapshots to remember this magnificent panoramic view of the Cocora Valley.
Afterwards, we'll start our descent, stopping in a quiet place for a picnic lunch.
When we reach the foot of the valley, we'll finish the excursion by returning to the starting point in Salento at approximately 5 pm.
