Description
The Real Pirates Salem Museum is your ticket to travel in time to the 18th century and discover pirating history through exhibitions full of curiosities and interactive areas. Don't forget, a real pirate treasure!
During your visit, you'll see artifacts and riches from the Whydah Gally, a boat full of buccaneers that sunk in 1717 along the coast of Cape Cod, not far from Salem. The pirate ship and its treasures remained hidden in the depths of the sea until they were finally discovered at the end of the 20th century. Thanks to this discovery, you can now view genuine artifacts from the period known as the Golden Age of Piracy.
You can uncover the ship's history and tragic shipwreck by exploring the museum's various rooms. Inside, you'll encounter recreations of the ship's interior, displays of torture instruments, cannons, and other intriguing surprises.
In addition to informative panels at each exhibit, Real Pirates Salem also includes interactive areas. You can learn the difference between various nautical knots, learn pirate vocabulary, and even touch antique coins straight from the Whydah Gally.
