Antigua Island Tour
We'll meet up at 9 am at Heritage Quay in Saint John, and from here we'll set off on our tour of the island of Antigua.
First, we'll move inland to visit the historic sugar mills. This set of ancient presses was used to grind sugar cane, which allowed the production of distilled alcoholic beverages such as rum. We'll get to see first-hand how it was produced artisanally back in the day.
Next, we'll move to the south coast of Antigua, where we'll visit Nelson's Dockyard, a breathtaking place listed as a cultural heritage site. The dock is located in the English Harbour which, as we'll see, used to be a point of vital importance for the geopolitical interests of the United Kingdom in the West Indies.
After visiting the harbor and its museum, we'll take a break at a restaurant in the area so that we can enjoy a delicious lunch, you'll be able to choose from a selection of daily specials.
After lunch, we'll continue our tour to the Shirley Heights lookout point. We'll get spectacular views of all of Antigua from up here, get your cameras ready!
Finally, we'll conclude this tour of Antigua by returning back to the meeting point, where we'll arrive at around 2:30 pm.
