Boat Trip to Scandola and Girolata
Boat Trip to Scandola and Girolata
At the scheduled time, we'll set sail from the port of Sagone to start our boat trip around the west coast of Corsica. On this route, your eyes will feast on the glorious sight of the unusual rock formations that spread out across this part of the island.
The first point of interest on the route will be the Scandola peninsula, a land and marine nature reserve which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1983. This area is made up of huge volcanic rocks which rise up from the Mediterranean sea in spectacular shapes and colors. On this tour, you'll cruise around the caves which have been shaped by wind and sea erosion.
Then, we'll head to the Gulf of Girolta, where we'll make a stop of 2 hours and a half to explore the beautiful coves and eat at a traditional local restaurant. The striking attraction of this location is the village, which is dominated by a Genoese tower constructed in the 18th century and which can only be reached by sea.
On the return journey, we'll encounter the pretty Calanques of Piana and Cabo Rosso which form are part of the amazing volcanic landscapes characteristic of this region.
