Feel like an explorer for a day on our Los Haitises National Park Hiking Activity. You'll trek through the breathtaking wilderness to the vibrant sounds of the Dominican Republic's nature.
Los Haitises National Park Hiking Activity
At your chosen time, we'll meet at Puerto Caño Hondo in Los Haitises National Park for an unforgettable hiking trip.
We'll walk for around 2.5 miles (3.8 kilometres) to Caño Salado while admiring coconut, coffee and cocoa trees. As we head deep into the northern Dominican Republic's rainforest, we'll look out for the small solenodon, an endangered mammal descended from moles and shrews.
Keep your eyes peeled for the parrots, pelicans and kingbirds that'll keep us company during our hike! We'll also learn lots of interesting facts about the Taino people who once lived in this park, whose name means 'mountainous land'.
When we reach the end of the trail, we'll take a small boat back to the starting point while you observe the red and white mangroves.
After four hours of adventure, we'll end the activity back at the starting point.
