Tour Details
We'll kick off our free tour of the Los Haitises National Park after meeting at the designated time at the Hotel Paraíso Caño Hondo. Here, we'll tell you a bit about what we're about to see in this tropical forest in the northern Dominican Republic.
We'll embark on a hike along the trails as the humid and warm environment surrounds us with its lush vegetation and we'll start to see the first examples of the native fauna. During the hike, you might see agoutas or Hispaniolan solenodons, unique mammals in the area. We'll also tell you about the exotic trees and plants that form part of Los Haitises' ecosystem.
Continuing the route, we'll reach caves that form part of the park's karstic system. These grottos stand out due to their curious geological formations that house the petroglyphs of the island's first inhabitants. Plus, in its interior, you'll find puddles and natural freshwater pools. Don't forget to take pictures!
After exploring the caves, we'll return to our initial meeting point, where we'll say goodbye after this 2-hour free tour.
