Day Trip to a Maroon Town
Day Trip to a Maroon Town
At 10 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Runaway Bay and we'll travel for approximately two hours until reaching Charles Town.
This town is home to one of the country's Maroon communities. As soon as we arrive, we'll visit the Charles Town Maroon Museum, where you'll discover all about the history of this community and their struggle to gain freedom.
The Maroons are a community of people that were originally brought from Africa as slaves in the 18th century. These days they declare themselves to be independent communities of ex-runaway slaves.
After discovering about this period of Jamaica history, you'll be able to let your hair down to the sounds and moves of traditional music and dances. Join in and have fun!
We'll then make our way to the Buff Bay River to cool off with a refreshing dip in the water, and then we'll go to a local restaurant where you can enjoy delicious local cuisine (lunch not included).
After lunch, we'll make our way back to Runaway Bay and the tour will finish back at your hotel at around 3 pm.
If you prefer, you can also take this day trip from Ocho Ríos.
