Photography Tour Details

What better way to experience one of the world's most beautiful natural phenomena than a photography tour, ensuring you'll have memories of the Aurora Borealis to look back on forever. A must-do activity on any visit to Rovaniemi is watching the colourful illuminations dance against the night sky. Don't forget your camera!

Having been picked up from your hotel in the Lappish capital between 8 and 10 pm, you'll head out on this unique adventure. Make your way into the darkness of the snow-capped forests of Finland, around 25 miles (40 km) from the bright lights of the city centre. Here you'll find the ideal spot to experience the natural wonder.

Under the magically illuminated night sky, explore different views from the beautiful places in the countryside, while a professional photographer explains some tricks and tips to capture the colours of the Aurora Borealis. What's more, they'll be snapping photos throughout the evening, which will be sent to you following the activity so that you'll have great memories to share with your friends and family.

At the end of your photography tour, you'll enjoy a barbecue for dinner, where you'll get to try reindeer sausage with marshmallows and blueberry tea. As you keep cosy around a campfire, you'll also learn historic and folkloric tales from the area's locals, adding to the mythical atmosphere of the evening. At the end of the excursion, you'll be dropped back off at your hotel in Rovaniemi.

Important Info

Please bear in mind that as a natural phenomenon, we cannot always guarantee that the Aurora Borealis will be visible on this tour. In addition, during the tour, you'll receive basic tips on how to capture the colors of the northern sky with your camera. And of course, don't forget to bring your camera!

If you'd prefer, you can reserve our regular Northern Lights tour instead.
