Mount Tarawera Helicopter Ride
Options
When booking, you can choose from the following options, depending on the length of flight you'd prefer. Both start and end at Rotorua City Lakefront.
40-minute ride
Can you imagine getting to the top of one of the most famous volcanoes in New Zealand? Let's take off! On this option, we'll enjoy a 40-minute helicopter ride around Mount Tarawera, which was responsible for one of the country's most important historical eruptions.
Leaving from Rotorua City Lakefront, we'll fly over the impressive lakes of Rotorua, enjoy incredible views of the rugged mountains and have a unique perspective of the colours of the Tarawera crater.
The helicopter will land at the top of the mountain, the perfect time to take a walk to the edge of the crater and learn about the Maori culture in the region thanks to the pilot. After a 15-minute break at the crater, we'll return to the helicopter and fly back to the starting point.
60-minute ride
If you want to spend longer flying around Mount Tarawera, the 60-minute ride is the best option for you. In this case, we'll also take you to see the famous Tarawera Falls and the geothermal reservoirs of Waimangu and Wai-O-Tapu. We'll fly over the Fault Line and part of the Pacific Ring of Fire!
