Pompeii & Naples Day Trip

At the indicated time, we'll set off from the Italian capital and cross Rome’s fertile landscape and the area of the castles called Castelli Romani. Montecassino is one of the little towns of the region, where the Battle of Monte Cassino took place during World War II.

After a 3-hour drive, we'll arrive in the capital of Campania and embark on a panoramic tour of Naples. From the bus, we'll pass by iconic landmarks including the Vomero and Posillipo districts, Egg Castle, the Royal Palace, and Via Marina.

It'll then be time to take a 2-hour long historical tour through the ruins of Pompeii. We'll explore this city, which was buried under tons of volcanic ash when Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD, killing 2,000 inhabitants. The town was discovered 1,700 years later and now is a remarkably well-preserved archaeological site where you’ll get a real sense of how life was in an ancient Roman colony.

After the tour of Pompeii, we'll return to the capital of Italy. Arrival in Rome is scheduled 12 hours after pickup. As a rule, we'll say goodbye in Piazza della Repubblica.

Off Season Info

From November 1st, 2024, please note that we won't visit Naples. From Rome, we'll go directly to Pompeii, where you'll have more time to visit the archaeological site.

Tour Options

During the booking process, you can choose between two options:

  • Tour with pickup: with this option, you'll be picked up from the main hotels in the centre of Rome that have a 24-hour reception. Please note that this option does not include a return transfer to your hotel.
  • Tour without pickup: you'll need to head straight to the meeting point, in front of the church of Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martri, near the metro stops Piazza della Repubblica and Termini. If you're staying in an apartment or bed and breakfast, you should choose the tour option without a pickup.

Meeting Point Change

From December 24, the meeting point for the tour without a pickup will be Piazzale Flaminio, next to Viale Washington.

Self-Guided Tour of Pompeii

If you prefer, you can opt for a self-guided tour that doesn't include a guide. With this option, transfers from the Church of Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri and the entrance to Pompeii are included, but you'll visit the site on your own. Please also note lunch is not included with this activity.
