Tour Details
We'll meet at the Piazza del Popolo to start this day trip. Ready to enjoy a day full of history, culture and flavours unique to Tuscany?
Our first stop will be Montepulciano, famous for its cobbled streets and Renaissance architecture. Here, we'll take a guided tour of its charming historic centre, passing through squares that have been featured in such famous films as the Twilight Saga. You'll also have 1.5 hours of free time to explore the city on your own, browse the shops, sample an ice cream or simply enjoy the scenic views.
We'll then head to a nearby 13th century wine cellar, where we'll be greeted by a sommelier who will guide us through a tasting of the region's finest wines. While tasting these delicacies, we'll learn about the Tuscan wine making process. We'll also visit a 2000-year-old Etruscan tomb and explore the ancient refectory, once used by the friars.
After the wine tasting, we'll enjoy a delicious Tuscan lunch prepared with fresh ingredients and paired to perfection with other regional wines.
Next, we'll continue our adventure to Montalcino, a medieval town famous for its fortress and excellent wines. Upon arrival, we'll start with a stop at the ancient convent of Sant'Agostino, which now houses the Temple of Brunello, an interactive museum dedicated to the history and production of the world-renowned Brunello di Montalcino wine. Before leaving, you'll have an hour of free time to stroll around the town centre, enjoy the panoramic views and, if you wish, buy typical products.
We'll start our return journey with a short stop in Fabro to rest and stretch our legs before continuing to Rome. Finally, we'll arrive at Piazza della Repubblica, where our tour will end after about 12 hours.
