Tungurahua Volcano 2-Day Excursion
Tungurahua Volcano 2-Day Excursion
Day 1
Between 1 and 2 pm, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Riobamba and head to the slopes of the Tungurahua volcano. Upon arrival, we'll visit two Andean towns: Plictahua and Capil, where we'll learn how humans have adapted to one of the most volcanically active areas in the world.
We'll see firsthand how the Tungurahua people make a living and how they cultivate fruits and vegetables. Around 7 pm we'll have a delicious dinner of chicken soup with vegetables accompanied by bread and coffee. Afterward, we'll sit around a campfire to listen to some of the local legends. Do you know the love story between Chimborazo and Tungurahua? After hearing some fascinating stories, we'll rest at the camp until early the next morning.
Day 2
At 4:30 am we'll get up for a beautiful walk of an hour and a half through the valleys of Tungurahua until we reach the volcano's hot springs. Taking a dip in these medicinal pools, we'll get rid of toxins and feel as good as new! Then, we'll make our way to the Ojo del Fantasma, a grotto with a stream inside that has given rise to various stories and enigmas. As we'll see, tropical plants grow in this idyllic environment due to its proximity to the Amazon.
Then, we'll return to the camp to enjoy a well-deserved breakfast of coffee or amaranth water and chicken stew. Finally, we'll return to Riobamba, where we'll conclude the experience at 11:30 am with the arrival at your hotel.
