Chimborazo Volcano Bike Tour
Chimborazo Volcano Bike Tour
At 8 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Riobamba and take you to the Hermanos Carrel mountain lodge, which is located at an altitude of 5,900 feet (1,800 metres). When we get there, we'll give you a bag with a sandwich, a piece of fruit and some juice for you to drink at the halfway point.
We'll take a short walk to a second refuge to see the Condorcocha Lagoon, which sits at an elevation of 16,732 feet (5,100 metres). Afterwards, we'll make our way back down to the Hermanos Carrel camp to begin a cycling tour of the Chimborazo Volcano.
This 23-mile (38-kilometre) route will start in a dry paramo area where we'll be able to observe herds of vicuñas, curiquingues and stellate hummingbirds. In addition, you'll see plants such as ñáchag, romerillo and ashpachocho while taking in extraordinary views of the Central Andes.
In addition, we'll cross winding rural goat trails called chaquiñanes. We'll also cycle through a colossal gorge with green meadows until we come to the village of San Juan, where our cycling experience will come to an end.
Our tour will finish as we arrive back at your hotel in Riobamba at 5 pm.
