Chimborazo Volcano 2-Day Hike
Chimborazo Volcano 2-Day Hike
Day 1
Once we've picked you up at 7 am from your hotel in Riobamba, we'll set off for Urbina. After making a brief stop to have a hearty breakfast here, we'll travel to the foothills of the Chimborazo Volcano to kick off our adventure.
Our 6-mile (10-kilometre) hike will take us up to an altitude of 13,615 feet (4,150 metres) where the Urku Wasi lodge is located. When we get there, we'll have a filling lunch to get our energy back and then set off on a route to the Condor Samana Waterfall. This incredible, 131-foot (40-metre) high waterfall is the result of a melted volcanic glacier.
We'll then return to the lodge to have dinner under the starry night sky that stretches over the Ecuadorian Andes.
Day 2
Good morning! As the first rays of sunshine start streaming in, we'll have a tasty breakfast and get ready for the day's hike. We'll then set off on a 5-hour hike through the Abraspung Valley to see the colossal volcanoes of Carihuirazo and Chimborazo. As we walk, we'll also come across some friendly alpacas, llamas and vicuñas.
Afterwards, we'll have lunch and walk back down the volcano to hop on our minibus to go home. On our way back, we'll stop at the La Chorrera Canyon to admire its 656-foot (200-metre) high rock walls.
We'll arrive back at your hotel in Riobamba at 5 pm.
