Mauritius Island Private Tea Tour
Description
At the designated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel and set off on our private tour so we can start learning about the importance of tea in the history and development of Mauritius.
To begin, we'll travel to Le Domaine des Aubineaux, one of the last 19th-century colonial houses on the island that you can visit. When we get there, we'll explore this building-turned-museum and learn lots of fun facts about Mauritian tea. We'll also stroll through the gardens and see various species of plants and trees endemic to Mauritius.
We'll then hop back on the minibus and drive to Bois Chéri, the most famous spot on the tea route. Here, we'll continue discovering more about the colonial history of this island in the Indian Ocean, as well as the importance of tea production. As we tour this plantation, we'll see the different stages of the tea production process.
While we're at Bois Chéri, we'll visit its museum. In the museum, you'll discover the numerous aromas and healing properties of tea. You'll also admire incredible views of the plantations from the museum.
The final stop will be Saint Aubin. On this occasion, we'll swap tea for another product fundamental to the country's economy, as this colonial house is a former sugar cane plantation. You'll also have 30 minutes of free time to have lunch in a local restaurant.
Our excursion will come to an end when we drop you off at your hotel after about 8 hours.
