Whale Watching in Rio de Janeiro
Whale Watching Details
We'll meet at the designated time at Marina da Glória, where we'll begin this activity with a brief introduction about the journey that awaits us. Afterwards, we'll hop onto the boat to venture into the waters of Rio de Janeiro. Ready for an adventure?
As we leave behind the Carioca Coast, we'll head for the horizon dotted with islands bathed in the golden and pink hues of sunrise. From the boat, we'll enjoy the unmistakable outline of Sugarloaf Mountain and Christ the Redeemer.
Between June and August, the waters of Rio become the perfect setting for the migration of humpback whales that travel from cold regions to the warm waters of Brazil to reproduce and feed.
With a little luck, we'll spot these incredible mammals emerging elegantly from the sea with magnificent jumps. We'll get to see their fins crashing against the water as they swim in the distance, leaving behind a trail of foam and a characteristic blow of air breaking the surface.
During the boat trip, we might also spot some dolphins or turtles swimming, as well as birds soaring over the sea. To complete the experience, we'll anchor at a strategic spot where you can take a dip in the sea and relax onboard with some refreshing drinks as you admire the scenery.
Lastly, we'll go on our return trip back to the original meeting point, where we'll say our goodbyes after a total of 3 to 4 hours.
Whale Sightings
Please note that whales are fairly unpredictable creatures, so we can't promise a sighting. The chances of spotting them depend on various natural and weather-related factors.
