Nice place to visit and walk around. Streets a bit steep. Lots of street art to photograph. Fernanda, the guide, is very good.

The beautiful bohemian heart of Rio de Janeiro awaits you on this fantastic free tour of the Santa Teresa neighborhood. You'll encounter beautiful mansions, traditional yellow trams, and numerous murals of urban art!

Santa Teresa Neighborhood Free Tour

Modernity and the past, luxury and art, all come together perfectly in Rio de Janeiro's most bohemian neighborhood. We'll meet up at the scheduled time next to the Cine Santa Teresa to begin our free tour of Santa Teresa.

We'll stroll through the picturesque cobblestone streets as you hear all about the fascinating history of the area. Santa Teresa became known as the bohemium enclave of Rio after a wave of artists moved here in the 1960s during the military dictatorship in Brazil. Because of this, this area of Rio was the scene of important political and social uprisings.

During the tour, we'll also enjoy fantastic views of the popular Christ the Redeemer statue and the city center. Making our way past imperial houses, palaces, and the famous yellow trams of Santa Teresa, we'll arrive at the Bar do Gomez, which was the meeting point of the locals 100 years ago.

And, of course, it wouldn't be a tour of Rio's most artistic area without passing by some of the neighborhood's main murals of urban art!

We'll finish the tour at the Selaron Stairs, the wonderful work of art that connects Santa Teresa with the neighborhood of Lapa.
