Horto Waterfall Hike
Description
Departing from Terminal Point 409 in Rio de Janeiro's Horto district, we'll kick off our unique hike through the green heart of Rio.
We'll cover approximately 8 kilometers (4.9 miles) along the route at a moderate pace. We'll encounter natural obstacles and delve into a section of the Tijuca National Park, where you'll be amazed by the region's captivating wildlife and lush flora!
Our journey will lead us to the renowned Chuveiro waterfall, often called the Caja waterfall, due to its distinctive rock formations. We'll encounter many more waterfalls along the trail before reaching the serene Jequitibá waterfall. Each of these natural wonders offers the perfect opportunity for a revitalizing swim.
Our next stop will be Vista Chinesa, one of Rio de Janeiro's most renowned viewpoints. This spot, constructed in the early twentieth century, features an eastern-style inspired pagoda paying tribute to the Chinese who introduced tea cultivation in Brazil. From here, you'll be treated to a breathtaking panoramic vista of the city's southern landscape and the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon.
After approximately four and a half hours of exploration, our adventure through the Horto waterfalls will conclude, returning us to our starting point.
