Riga Art Nouveau Tour
Riga Art Nouveau Tour
Did you know that Riga is the European city with the highest number of Art Nouveau buildings? If you want to get to know them, we'll meet at 3:30 pm by the Laima Clock.
We'll spend two hours walking through the streets of Riga in search of its impressive collection of Art Nouveau buildings, such as the Opera House, the University, the German Embassy or the Nativity Cathedral. These were mostly built between 1904 and 1914, a time when the present-day Latvian capital was one of the most prosperous cities in the Russian Empire.
We'll get to know the secrets of these buildings by passing through the most popular street in the historic centre of Riga, Alberta Street, which has no less than 8 protected buildings! You'll be amazed by their colourful façades and the carefully decorated details.
We'll also discover the history of one of the most prominent Art Nouveau architects, Mikhail Eisenstein. After this exciting journey through Art Nouveau Riga, we'll end the tour at the entrance of the Art Nouveau Museum at 4 pm.
