Paul Valley Hiking Tour
Paul Valley Hiking Tour
At 9 am on the morning of the tour, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Ribeira Grande. From there, we'll hit the road in a comfortable minibus to Cova-Paul-Ribeira da Torre Natural Park. Ready to explore the incredible landscapes of the island of Santo Antão?
During the tour, we'll hike our way through the famous Paul Valley, a real-life oasis brimming with vegetation growing on the slopes of the Cova de Paul crater. Did you know that the diameter of this caldera measures a full kilometer? In fact, it's the largest crater of the whole archipelago. Over the course of three hours, we'll walk along the edge of this crater while we admire the area's agricultural fields.
We'll also make stops to take in spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean and the natural formations hidden in this part of Cape Verde. Following along a zigzagging path, we'll gradually make our way to the lowest part of the natural park, where we'll see vineyards as well as sugar cane, banana, mango, avocado and coconut plantations. A picturesque way to end our hiking route through this breathtaking valley!
And for the icing on the cake, before returning to your hotel, we'll even stop at a rum distillery to taste the famous grogue, the traditional rum of Santo Antão. Then, around 2 pm, the excursion will come to an end.
