Alvão Natural Park Hiking Tour
At the agreed time, we'll depart from Pena Aventura Park to explore the Alvão Natural Park on foot.
The Alvão Natural Park, one of the major protected areas in northern Portugal, is known for its wide biodiversity. The park is home to many endemic birds and mammals such as wild cats, peregrine falcons, or Iberian wolves - the latter is classified as an endangered species.
During the hike, we'll follow the tracks of the Iberian wolf, trying to find any indication of its presence in the park, such as footprints or droppings. We'll explore fields of heather and broom, admiring the natural charm of the Alvão plain.
Also, the tour will take us through typical landscapes of the region, from walking through birch and wild pine forests to admiring birds of prey, ponds full of amphibians and insects. We'll make a stop and have an energy bar when you feel you need a short break.
After five hours of hiking through the Alvão Natural Park, we'll return to the starting point, ending the tour.
