Diriyah Day Trip
Description
We'll pick you up from your hotel in Riyadh at the indicated time and drive northwest of the Saudi capital. After a 30-minute drive, we'll arrive in Diriyah, the birthplace of the first Saudi state.
Once at our destination, you'll have free time to explore this historic location. Muhammad bin Saud was the Amir who founded the state of Diriyah and the first of the Saud dynasty, the royal family that continues to rule the country today. The city was also the capital of the Nejed region between the 15th and 18th centuries.
We'll learn all about the history of this historic city, which dates back to the time of the trade routes between Asia, Africa and Europe. We'll discover why Unesco listed it as a World Heritage Site in 2010 and enjoy its typical Najdi architecture as we stroll through its streets.
We'll also see how the Saudi government plans to turn Diriyah into one of the largest metropolis in the Middle East with ambitious urban development projects.
After the guided tour of Diriyah, we'll meet up again and then return to Riyadh and drop you off at your hotel. Arrival is scheduled 4 hours after pickup.
