Landmannalaugar Day Trip
Landmannalaugar Day Trip Itinerary
You'll first meet at the meeting point in Reykjavik at the scheduled time on the morning of your tour, then you'll set off in the direction of the Highlands of Iceland, where the Landmannalaugar nature reserve is located. This region, characterised by volcanic valleys, is known as the "pearl of the central Highlands".
We'll enter Landmannalaugar and start a light trek to admire the beauty of the landscape. Crossing through a landscape dotted with rivers and lakes, you'll be captivated by the breathtaking Hnausapollur, a volcanic lake created over 10,000 years ago and whose waters are almost unbelievably blue. Throughout the trek, you'll be able to admire the striking contrasts of natural colours here, from the turquoise of the crater lakes to the bright greens and rich reds of the mountains.
Explore the hills of Landmannalaugar, discovering the vibrant colours of the valley up close. You'll have free time after your trek to rest and eat to recharge your batteries, before continuing on your route to the region's natural pools. Enjoy the opportunity to relax in the thermal springs while marvelling at the unbeatable landscapes surrounding you.
On your journey back, you'll make the return journey to Reykjavik. On the way back, you'll pass close by Hekla, one of Iceland's most active volcanoes, which erupts every few decades. During the Middle Ages, this impressive peak was known as the Gateway to Hell!
You'll arrive back at the meeting point in Reykjavik after 13 hours in total.
