Reykjavik Christmas Tour
Reykjavik Christmas Tour
At your chosen time, we'll meet in Fógetagarðurinn Park in Reykjavik and begin a tour of the Icelandic capital's Christmas decorations.
First, we'll head to the nearby Ingólfur Square where we'll find a beautiful ice skating rink and a delightful Christmas market full of handicraft stalls.
We'll continue strolling around and taking in the pretty Christmas lights as we share some fascinating facts about Iceland's Christmas traditions. Did you know that they have 13 Santas? We'll tell you all about who the Jólasveinarnir are and when they usually deliver their presents. You'll also hear about Jolakotturin, a wicked cat with a very peculiar link to Christmas.
Our Christmas tour will then take us to the iconic Austurvöllur Square. Here, you'll see Iceland's most famous Christmas tree. Since 1952, Oslo has given Reykjavik a Christmas tree as a symbol of the friendship between the two cities.
After taking some photos of the Christmas tree, we'll stroll along Laugavegur Street, which is Reykjavik's main shopping street. We'll admire the Christmas decorations in the shops as we make our way to the majestic Hallgrímskirkja Church, the tallest church in the country.
Following 2 hours of festive cheer, we'll finish our tour and say our goodbyes next to Hallgrímskirkja Church. Merry Christmas!
