Explore one of the great natural wonders of Crete on this unforgettable hiking tour through the Imbros Gorge from Rethymno. Spectacular rugged landscapes await!
Hiking in Imbros Gorge
Between 7 am and 8:30 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Rethymno and head to the Imbros Gorge, the second most important canyon in Crete after Samaria Gorge. Ready to explore its incredible natural landscapes?
Arriving at Imbros, which is located at about 700 metres above sea level, we'll begin hiking through the first part of the gorge, known as Porofarago or Porolagos. This area is the widest and, as we descend, we'll see how the path narrows and the walls get higher and higher.
A little over an hour's walk will bring us to one of the most striking points of the Imbros Gorge, the Stenada, where the walls are only 1.6 metres apart - the narrowest part!
After enjoying the natural scenery of Crete, we'll end the hiking tour of Imbros Gorge. At the end of the tour, we'll drive by minibus to Chora Sfakion or Franfokastello, a beachfront castle in the south of the island. The perfect place to relax after our hike with a refreshing dip in the sea!
We'll finish the tour by returning to your hotel in Rethymno between 6 pm and 6:30 pm.
