If you like birds, you can't miss this birdwatching trip at the San Rafael ranch. We'll take a hiking route to observe different birds of the Argentinian province of Chaco.
Birdwatching at the San Rafael Estate
We'll start this activity by meeting at 9:30 am at the Estancia San Rafael, a famous private nature reserve located in the outskirts of Resistencia.
In this beautiful protected area we'll embark on a low-difficulty hiking route that will take us two hours. We'll cover a total of between 3 and 8 kilometres (2 and 5 miles), depending on the group and the weather conditions.
During the walk we'll enjoy spotting various endemic birds. This area of the Argentinean province of Chaco, located in the north of the country, is home to numerous toucans, cardinals and red-footed chuñas. We'll learn to distinguish one kind from another by appreciating the shades of their beaks and plumage.
In addition, if conditions are favourable, we might even be able to see different hawks and various species of aquatic birds such as the ipequí and the sirirí duck. As we'll see, the ideal conditions of the local ecosystem allow the supply of these animals.
We'll conclude the hiking route by returning to the starting point, where we'll arrive at 11:30 am.
