Discover magnificent Andean forests and fascinating species of mountain birds on this trip to the Yanacocha Reserve from Quito.
Yanacocha Reserve Tour
We'll pick you up from the meeting point in Quito at 7 am and set off for the Yanacocha Reserve.
This area, north of the Ecuadorian capital and located on the slopes of the Guagua Pichincha Volcano, is known for its Polylepis forests. Do you know what's so special about these trees? Find out on the tour!
Thanks to its lush forests and humid climate, the Yanacocha Reserve attracts many high-altitude birds, such as the masked flowerpiercer and the tororoí rufos. We'll also find the largest community of hummingbirds in the country - over 50 different species!
At midday we'll make a stop to enjoy a snack, which will be a quesadilla (a traditional corn and cheese dish), chulips chocos (a popular Andean snack made from toasted grains) and a soft drink or water. What better way to relax in this peaceful place?
At the end of the tour, we'll drop you off at the meeting point in Quito at around 1 pm.
