With this visit to a traditional market and the Guayasamín House Museum, we'll explore Quito and one of the most important Ecuadorian artists of the modern era.
Quito Market & Guayasamín House & Museum Tour
At the agreed time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in the centre of Quito and set off to one of the city's traditional markets.
As you enter, you'll see a colourful flower stall where you'll find the "best roses in the world". Do you know why? The temperatures and the hours of sunshine mean that this type of flower variety lasts in perfect condition for up to 20 days after being picked. We'll also find juicy fruits such as papayas, custard apples, limes and passion fruit - you won't be able to resist trying some of them!
We'll also pass by the typical food area and the area of 'limpias' to observe this traditional practice, which consists of spiritual healings carried out with plants collected along the banks of the rivers. But that's not all! We'll go to the area of the fine aroma cocoa to learn all about how it's produced and its benefits.
On leaving, we'll travel to the bohemian neighbourhood of Guápulo to see the Pichincha volcano and the Pasochoa from its viewpoint. We'll then visit the Guayasamín House Museum to learn about the work of this Ecuadorian artist. His work contains themes of poverty, the Mexican Revolution, the crisis and the Spanish Civil War.
Finally, after having enjoyed four hours of experience, we'll take you back to your hotel.
Pickup
