Imbabura Villages Tour
Imbabura Villages Tour
At 7 am, we'll meet up on Avenida de los Shyris & Holanda in Quito and kick off our tour of the most beautiful villages in the province of Imbabura.
Once we've hopped into our minibus, we'll drive for 1 hour 30 minutes until we get to our first stop of the day: Cayambe. When we arrive, we'll visit a bizococho (a type of biscuit) factory and have a tasty breakfast.
Feeling fuelled up for the day, we'll continue our journey to the beautiful city of Otavalo. We'll stroll through the colourful Plaza de Ponchos, which is one of the oldest traditional markets in Ecuador. Here, we'll learn about the daily life of the local people.
Next, we'll take a relaxing boat trip on the enchanting Cuicocha Lagoon. We'll learn all about the legends and fascinating stories surrounding this place, such as the fact that it was created by a phreatic eruption 3100 years ago.
After exploring the lake, we'll have a lunch consisting of a main dish and a drink before continuing our tour around Imbabura's villages. In the afternoon we'll head to Cotacachi, a town well-known for its leather products. We'll visit several shops where you'll be able to buy different handicraft items made from this material.
Before starting our return journey to Quito, we'll make a brief stop at a shop where you can buy chocolates made from the best cocoa in the country.
Having spent the day visiting the most symbolic sights in the province of Imbabura, we'll return to the meeting point in Quito at 7 pm.
