Cotopaxi Volcano Hiking Tour
Cotopaxi Volcano Hiking Tour
At the indicated time, we'll meet at the meeting point of your choice in Quito. Once there, we'll embark on a journey to the Cotopaxi National Park. An awesome trekking route on one of the highest peaks in Ecuador awaits us!
We'll travel along the spectacular avenue of volcanoes and marvel at the impressive Andean landscapes along the way. As we get closer, we'll make a stop so that our bodies can acclimatize to the altitude.
Then, we'll continue until we reach the base of the Cotopaxi volcano, which is located at 15,092 ft (4,600 meters) above sea level. Here, we'll begin the hiking route to the Rivas Refuge, which is 15,958 ft (4,864 meters) above sea level. During our 1-hour hike, we'll learn about the fauna and flora that characterize this national park.
At the refuge, we'll take a short break and stamp our passports to certify our visit to the second-tallest active volcano in the world! Then, we'll resume the route on foot until we reach 16,732 ft (5,100 meters), from where we'll be able to see the Cotopaxi glacier. The view will really wow you!
After reaching the end, we'll start the descent to the Limpiopung lagoon. Fancy doing it the fun way? For this, we'll combine different sections for walking, minibus and cycling. You'll have a blast!
Once we're back at the bottom, we'll have a delicious lunch at a nearby restaurant. Afterwards, we'll board the minibus and arrive back in Quito after 11 hours of excursion.
