Cerro Igualata Hiking Tour
Description
Our adventure begins at 8 am at Quero Park, where we'll set off on a hiking expedition through the majestic Cerro Igualata. Standing tall at 4,385 meters (14,385 feet) above sea level, this natural wonder forms the border between the provinces of Tungurahua and Chimborazo, and its simply sunning.
After reaching a hacienda on the outskirts of Quero, we'll commence our trek towards the southern edge of the estate, embarking on a captivating 15-kilometer (9.3-mile) journey through one of the rare páramo ecosystems found in the Tungurahua province.
Over the course of five hours, we'll navigate this extraordinary natural landscape, unraveling its unique features. We'll delve into the thriving plant life that graces these lands and explore the abundant wildlife that lives in this tropical ecosystem, sharing captivating insights along the way.
As we reach the midpoint of our excursion, we'll take a well-deserved break for a sandwich. With renewed energy, we'll commence our return journey, leading us through a sprawling pine forest, meandering along the Toro Singuna trail. With a bit of luck, we may even catch a glimpse of the diverse wildlife that calls this place home.
Upon our return to the hacienda, a delicious traditional lunch will await us, giving you the chance to savor the local flavors. You'll also have the freedom to explore the estate's grounds and wander around a bit.
Finally, after a total of nine hours, we'll say our goodbyes back at the meeting point in Quero.
