Skippers Canyon or Macetown Jeep Tour
Skippers Canyon or Macetown Jeep Tour
When making your booking, you'll be able to choose the jeep tour from Queenstown that appeals to you most. Both routes set off from 37 Shotover Street.
Skippers Canyon Jeep Tour (4 hours)
We'll leave Queenstown behind and head to Skippers Canyon, a spectacular gorge that we'll explore in our jeep. As we pass by Coronet Peak, we'll make our way up to the entrance of this monumental canyon and stop at Lighthouse Rock. From this spot, we'll admire fantastic panoramic views.
Next, we'll come to Skippers Suspension Bridge where you'll be able to take some photos of the scenery. We'll also hop out of the vehicle to visit Skippers School, where you'll learn about the beginnings of the first gold prospectors' settlement from artefacts and photographs.
Afterwards, we'll head to Deep Creek to see a gold panning demonstration. Nearby, we'll see some places that you might recognise from the scenes of a very famous movie saga...
Macetown Jeep Tour (4 hours 30 minutes)
Once we've all arrived at our meeting point in Queenstown we'll set off for Macetown, another famous town from the Gold Rush.
On the way there, we'll pass through Arrowtown and stop at a Chinese settlers' village and locations where scenes from Lord of the Rings were filmed. We'll also pass by Soho Creek and Britannia Terrace. Both of these spots are home to some fascinating stories that we'll tell you all about during the jeep tour.
When we get to Macetown, we'll visit this mining settlement and see the places that marked its history, such as Needham's Cottage and Anderson's Battery.
As we travel back to Queenstown, we'll stop at the Arrow River so you can see firsthand how gold is mined and panned.
