Explore some of New Zealand's most amazing landscapes that have served as set locations for numerous Hollywood films on this excursion to Glenorchy and Paradise from Queenstown.
Glenorchy & Paradise Excursion
At the scheduled time, we'll meet at The Station tourist information center. Hopping in our vehicle and leaving Queenstown behind, we'll set off for Glenorchy and Paradise, just 45 minutes away.
Before arriving at Glenorchy, we'll make a stop in Arrowtown ti try a delicious local wine.
Located on the north shore of Lake Wakatipu, Glenorchy is the gateway to the Middle-earth of the Tolkien universe. Yes, we're entering the setting of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit!
During the tour, we'll see incredible landscapes on board the minibus and we'll make several stops for you to take photos. We'll also have a delicious breakfast or snack, depending on the time, with tea, kiwis, cakes, cheese and chocolates.
We'll admire the Dart and Rees rivers, see sky-high mountains, check out Diamond Lake and visit the Glenorchy Wharf Shed, a small wooden construction that stands out for the contrast of its bright red color with the greenery of the surrounding landscape.
While we get to know Glenorchy, we'll talk about the first Maori communities that settled in these lands. You'll learn all kinds of things!
We'll journey to the past but also delve into the contemporary era to explore places in the town of Paradise that served as the setting for famous movies. In these vast fields, located in the heart of rural Otago, The Chronicles of Narnia was also filmed.
After between 4 and 4.5 hours, the excursion will conclude at the departure point in Queenstown.
