Admire fantastic views from the top of Surunche Hill on our hike from Putre. You'll explore a unique mountain where numerous traditional Andean ceremonies are held.
Surunche Hill Hike
Between 7 and 8 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Putre and set off for the Pampa de Luscuma.
When we get to this plain in the Andean foothills of northern Chile, we'll set off on a hike that'll take us up to the summit of Surunche Hill. During our hike, which will be of medium-high difficulty and last between 5 and 6 hours, we'll climb up to an altitude of 12,762 feet (3,890 metres).
Did you know that traditional Andean ceremonies are held on Suruche Hill? We'll discover what the main rituals are as we ascend the mountainside. At its summit, we'll see a crucifix from colonial times around which the festivities of the May Cross take place.
While enjoying the views, we'll take a break for a picnic that'll include sandwiches, dried fruits, chocolates and natural juices. After getting our energy back, well begin our descent down the hill's less difficult slope.
We'll return to the starting point of our hike and then take you back to your hotel in Putre between 2 and 3 pm.
