Admire the beautiful scenery of the Surire Salt Flat on our day trip from Putre. You'll visit one of the main sodium chloride deposits in northern Chile and take in fantastic views. Let's go!
Surire Salt Flat Day Trip
At 7 am, we'll set off from your hotel in Putre and head to the Las Vicuñas National Reserve. To the south of this protected natural area, right by the Bolivian border, we'll find the spectacular Surire Salt Flat Natural Monument.
During our tour of the salt flat, which is located at an altitude of 13,927 feet (4,245 metres), we'll see one of the main nesting sites for flamingos in South America. This part of the Andean mountain range is also home to animals such as rheas, vicuñas, alpacas, llamas and guallatas.
While we try to spot some of these animals, we'll cross different areas between rivers, lagoons, volcanoes and bodefales and high altitude wetlands. We'll also visit the main inhabited areas here, such as the village of Guallatire and its picturesque church.
Anyone peckish? We'll take a break so you can have a picnic lunch that'll include sandwiches, dried fruits, chocolates and natural juices. After getting our energy back, we'll head to the Polloquere Hot Springs.
We'll then return to Putre and drop you off at your hotel between 5 and 7 pm.
