Lauca National Park Day Trip
Lauca National Park Day Trip
At 7 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Putre and drive to the surroundings of the Lauca National Park This beautiful volcanic area is in northern Chile near the Bolivian border.
The first stop will be at Lake Chugará, which is located at an altitude of 14,764 feet (4,500 metres). After admiring the beautiful scenery, we'll drive into the heart of the park to admire its spectacular volcanoes. The main peaks are those of Parinacota, Pomerape and Guallatiri, which are over 19,685 feet (6,000 metres) high.
As we walk through this protected natural area, we'll see the famous alpacas and vicuñas that live in the Chilean altiplano. We'll also take a break in the middle of nature for a picnic lunch, which includes sandwiches, dried fruits, chocolate and juices.
Our route will then take us to the breathtaking Cotacotani Lagoons before we make our way into the park's charming surroundings. We'll visit the village of Parinacota, which is home to a church that's been declared a National Monument. Next, we'll visit the archaeological sites of Chaku and Las Cuevas to learn more about this area's history.
Last of all, we'll stop at the incredible Jurasi Hot Springs. Please bear in mind that this part of the tour isn't set in stone due to occasional closures.
