Cotacotani Lagoons Hike
Cotacotani Lagoons Hike
At 7 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Putre and head to the Lauca National Park. Once we've made our way up to an altitude of 14,271 feet (4,350 metres), we'll admire the incredible Cotacotani Lagoons and the volcanoes that surround them.
Our hike will begin from the viewpoint of the lagoons. The vast landscape of the Chilean Altiplano stretches out to the nearby Bolivian border and serves as a habitat for numerous alpacas and vicuñas.
As you walk around the Cotacotani Lagoons, you'll see the Parinacota and Pomerape volcanoes. These peaks, whose altitude exceeds 19,685 feet (6,000 metres), create a striking landscape in the Lauca National Park. You'll also love the protected area around Cotacotani, where we'll make a stop to admire the scenery.
We'll take a break on the shores of the lagoons to eat a picnic lunch that'll include sandwiches, dried fruits and nuts, chocolate and natural juices. After we've fuelled up with some food, we'll continue walking through the breathtaking surroundings of the Cotacotani Lagoons.
Once we've walked around 6 miles (9 to 10 kilometres), our hike will come to an end at the starting point. From there, we'll return to your hotel in Putre and drop you off between 1 and 2 pm.
