Chapiquiña & Juntuma Hot Springs Day Trip
Chapiquiña & Juntuma Hot Springs Day Trip
Having picked you up from your hotel in Putre between 7 and 8 am, we'll travel to the areas around Chapiquiña and Juntuma in the heart of the Chilean Altiplano.
Our day trip will kick off with a visit to the village of Socoroma, where the picturesque Church of San Francisco de Asis stands out. The next stop will be in Zapahuira, where we'll see Inca archaeological remains and discuss their historical significance.
The route will continue to the village of Belén, which is home to two important religious buildings. These are the Churches of Our Lady of Carmen and Our Lady of Belén. We'll then pause to have a picnic lunch of sandwiches, dried fruits, chocolates and juice.
After lunch, we'll continue exploring some of the other beautiful natural areas that surround Chapiquiña. We may even see some Andean wildlife such as llamas, alpacas and vicuñas. Our final stop will be at the Juntuma Hot Springs, which are located at an altitude of 12,467 feet (3,800 metres) above sea level.
These hot springs sit in a ravine that's a bit difficult to get to, so we'll travel as far as we can in our vehicle before walking the rest of the way. After admiring the scenery, we'll return to your hotel in Putre and say our goodbyes between 4 and 5 pm.
