Calvario Hill Hike
Between 7 and 8 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Putre and travel to Calvario Hill in the Andean foothills of the Chilean Altiplano.
When we get there, we'll set off from the base of the hill on a medium to high-difficulty hike. We'll take between 3 and 4 hours, depending on the pace of the group. Our hike will be divided into different stages as we make our way up to the summit, which is located at 13,123 feet (4,000 metres) above sea level. The views will be well worth the effort!
At the top of the hill, you'll see a large cross. Did you know that it's the largest cross in Putre? The cross dates back to colonial times and holds great significance in traditional Andean ceremonies and festivities such as the Cruz de Mayo (May Cross). You'll learn all about this popular celebration during the activity.
We'll take a break at the top of Calvario Hill to have a tasty picnic. Our picnic lunch will include sandwiches, dried fruits and nuts, chocolates and natural juices. Once we've had something to eat, we'll make our way back down the mountain.
Our route will end at the starting point of the trail. From there, we'll return to your hotel in Putre and drop you off between 11 am and 12 pm.
