San Lucas Island National Park Day Trip

When making your booking, you'll be able to choose one of the following day trips to the San Lucas Island National Park. Both day trips start at the scheduled time from the ICT tourist dock in Puntarenas. These two day trips also include transfers in a speedboat, a guide, tickets and lunch. You can see the details for both trips below.

San Lucas Island tour (6 hours 30 minutes)

We'll see you at the meeting point and, after a quick safety briefing, we'll set off on the speedboat through the Gulf of Nicoya and the Puntarenas mangrove forest. During our water crossing, we'll also spot dolphins, as this is an area with a high concentration of marine wildlife.

Our journey will continue through the waters surrounding the San Lucas Island National Park. Once we've arrived at the island, we'll start a journey through its nature and history. This will include visits to its chapel and the historic old San Lucas Island prison.

Afterwards, we'll hop back on the speedboat to go to Esmerelda Beach. You'll have 2 hours 30 minutes of free time to relax and enjoy this paradisiacal inlet. While we're here, we'll also have a lunch of some traditional local dishes.

It'll then be time to return to the Puntarenas dock, where we'll arrive at 3 pm.

San Lucas, Negritos and Cedros Islands tour (8 hours 30 minutes)

If you choose this option, we'll first sail through the Gulf of Nicoya to see the mangroves and look out for dolphins. Our route will then continue to San Lucas Island, where we'll take a guided tour through different trails to explore its beautiful nature spots. We'll also discover the history of its chapel and old prison.

After visiting San Lucas Island, we'll return to the speedboat and set sail. During this speedboat transfer, we'll get to do an albatross watching tour. We'll then step off the speedboat at the Negritos Island Biological Reserve, where we'll see several kinds of monkeys in their natural habitat.

Our next stop will be the nearby Cedros Island, where you'll have 2 hours of free time to relax on the beach and have a delicious lunch. Our menu will have three options to choose from, each accompanied by a side dish: chicken, tuna or whole fried fish with spotted or red snapper.

We'll then return to the dock in Puntarenas, where we'll arrive at 4 pm.
