Mangroves of Tumbes Tour
Mangroves of Tumbes Tour
We'll pick you up at your hotel in Punta Sal at 9 am and drive to Tumbes, a town in the northwest of Peru.
After a journey of almost two hours, we'll reach Puerto Pizarro, where we'll take a boat to visit the famous National Sanctuary of the mangroves of Tumbes. Did you know that this ecosystem is characteristic of intertropical America?
We'll sail through the Tumbes River delta following the mangrove landscape's navigable channels and stop at some of its most famous spots, such as the Isla de los Pájaros (Birds' Island). On this islet we'll see a curious species of tree, the red mangrove, so called because of the reddish tone of its trunk.
We'll pass by Whale Bone Island and disembark on Love Island, which has magnificent beaches where we'll leave you free time to rest and try the local cuisine.
We'll then return to the mainland and head to the centre of Tumbes, where we'll visit the Plaza de Armas. Finally, we'll stop at Amotape beach to admire the intense turquoise colour of its waters.
Finally, we'll arrive at Punta Sal and drop you off at your hotel. Arrival is scheduled for 5 pm.
