It was fantastic. I recommend it 100%. You can't miss it. Our guide Jose was exemplary, explaining everything perfectly at all times. We did many different things, not just go to Saona. The Chavón River is spectacular and the beaches on the island are incredible!!! We ate luxuriously and the weather in each place was perfect. The best excursion of our entire trip. We even saw turtles and manta rays in their natural habitat (without swimming with them, which is the best, respecting them).

Tour Highlights

We'll pick you up from your hotel at the scheduled time, transporting you to the heart of the Dominican Republic. Get ready to uncover mesmerizing landscapes!

Our first stop is along the banks of the Chavón River, where a scenic 6-kilometer (3.7-mile) river walk awaits, allowing you to immerse yourself in the beauty of the local fauna, including the remarkable rhinoceros iguana.

Continuing our voyage, we'll sail to the mouth of the Chavón River, then navigate the Caribbean Sea to explore the Atlantis Princess, an ancient sunken freighter nestled near reefs—a perfect spot for snorkeling. Afterward, we'll head to a nearby sandbank, offering another opportunity for a delightful snorkeling experience.

The sea journey proceeds to the Catuano Channel, a natural divide between Saona Island and the mainland, serving as a refuge for marine species like manatees. In Catuano, discover the Caldera—a sanctuary for numerous boats during hurricane threats.

Our course then leads us to Saona Island, renowned as one of the Dominican Republic's most beautiful destinations. You'll have approximately three hours of free time to stroll along the beach, swim in crystal-clear waters, and relax under the shade of towering palm trees.

Delight in a buffet lunch at a beachside restaurant featuring Arab rice, pasta, vegetables, breaded fried chicken, grilled pork chops, and a refreshing green salad.

Concluding our expedition, we'll head to the natural pools of Saona Island—one of the world's largest sandbanks. Enjoy about 45 minutes of free time to enjoy the surroundings and take a refreshing swim if you wish.

At the tour's end, we'll transport you back to your hotel, concluding this 9 to 11-hour adventure.

Ha sido fantástica. La recomiendo 100%. No os la podéis perder nuestro guía Jose ha sido ejemplar, explicándonos todo perfectamemte en todo momento. Hemos hecho muchas cosas diferentes, no solo ir a Saona. El río chavón es espectacular y las playas de la Isla son increíbles!!! Hemos comido de lujo y el tiempo en cada sitio ha sido perfecto. La mejor excursión de todo nuestro viaje. Viendo incluso tortugas y mantas rayas en su hábitat natural (sin nadar con ellas, que es lo mejor, respetándolas). Translate this opinion into English.

La actividad fue bien. Vimos todo lo que prometía la excursión: el río en donde vimos una iguana, los manglares en donde vimos tortugas y estuvimos en isla Saona un rato descansando en la playa y comiendo. Lo puntuó como normal porque en el río estuvimos como 15 minutos por lo que para estar solo ese rato, me parece algo prescindible y el guía creo que aportó poco. Ayudó a ver las tortugas y la iguana y explicó qué íbamos a hacer pero no aportó nada más (algún dato de la zona, del país...) Translate this opinion into English.

We saw everything that the excursion promised: the river where we saw an iguana, the mangroves where we saw turtles and we were on Saona Island for a while resting on the beach and eating. I rate it as normal because we were in the river for about 15 minutes, so to be alone for that time, it seems a bit dispensable and I think the guide contributed little. He helped us see the turtles and the iguana and explained what we were going to do but he didn't contribute anything else (some information about the area, the country...) Opinion translated. Bien organizado, puntuales. Todo el grupo disfrutó mucho. Todos los trabajadores fueron atentos y educados. Reseñar sobre todo que Moisés, el fotógrafo, hace una labor fantástica. Fastidia cuando por el reportaje , te piden un precio desorbitado, supongo que siguiendo las instrucciones de su Agencia. Más ético, que informen de una tarifa unificada, no intentar sacarle los cuartos a cada uno individualmente. Sales con la sensación, que te están timando , y eso no le gusta a nadie. Well organized, punctual. The whole group enjoyed it very much. All the workers were attentive and polite. I would especially like to point out that Moisés, the photographer, does a fantastic job. It is annoying when they ask you for an exorbitant price for the report, I suppose following the instructions of their Agency. It is more ethical to inform you of a unified rate, not to try to get money out of each person individually. You leave with the feeling that you are being ripped off, and nobody likes that. La excursión no ha estado mal. El guía, el capitán de la lancha y los ayudantes, sobresalientes. El tiempo nos acompañó. El recorrido por el río Chavón, me esperaba algo más. El snorkling por el pecio del carguero hundido, no lo pudimos hacer porque el agua estaba turbia y para mí era la joya de la corona. La comida del almuerzo muy decente y el lugar limpio y cómodo. The excursion was not bad. The guide, the captain of the boat and the assistants were outstanding. The weather was good. I was expecting something more from the trip along the Chavón River. We were unable to do the snorkelling around the wreck of the sunken freighter because the water was cloudy and for me it was the jewel in the crown. The whole organization was perfect, from the time they communicated with you via WhatsApp a few days before and kept you informed of everything until they transported you to the place of the excursion.
