Trip to the Uros Islands & Taquile
Tour Details
Having picked you up from your hotel at the designated time, we'll head to the port in Puno. Here, we'll board a boat and take a speedboat on Lake Titicaca, the world's highest navigable lake, located at 12,500 feet (3,810 meters) above sea level.
The first stop on our tour of Lake Titicaca will be the famous floating Uros Islands. We'll step off the boat and explore one of the main islands to meet the Uru people who live here. The locals will tell us all about their ancestors' pre-Inca culture, one of the oldest in the Andean Altiplano, as we admire the impressive artificial archipelago on which they live. Did you know that the islands are made from a plant called Totora?
Next, we'll set sail once again and head to Taquile Island; the largest island on Lake Titicaca, enjoying the incredible lake and mountain views on the way. Reaching Taquile, we'll delve into local culture discovering the weaving techniques used by the island's inhabitants to make their famous textiles.
Afterwards, we'll make a stop to renew energy with a delicious traditional lunch (optional), before saying farewell to the islands of Lake Titicaca.
At the end of the tour, you'll be dropped back off at your hotel in Puno after a total of 8 hours.

This tour includes pickup from hotels in the center of Puno. If you're staying elsewhere, you'll have to make your own way to the meeting point at Jiron Arequipa Street, located very close to the Plaza de Armas, for the scheduled time.
