Discover a pre-Incan cemetery, as you learn about Peru’s ancient cultures and traditions on this day trip to Sillustani from Puno.
Tour Details
After picking you up from your hotel at the designated time, we’ll head northeast for approximately 45 minutes until we reach the archaeological site of Sillustani.
Lying on the shores of Lake Umayo, at almost 13,123 (4,000 meters) above sea level, you’ll be able to admire the incredible chullpas. These are tombs, which are built above ground in tower-like structures. These pre-Inca structures seem to defy the laws of gravity as many have a greater diameter at the top than they do at the bottom!
As you make your way around the archaeological site of Sillustani, you’ll discover the secrets of the ancient Colla culture and their funeral rituals. From this point, you’ll also be able to admire the legendary Lake Umayo, considered sacred for the cultures in this area.
Once we’ve explored the archaeological site of Sillustani, we’ll make our way back to your hotel in Puno, arriving after a total of around three and a half hours.
